God I love crocs and their entire family tree so much. These are animals that have remained virtually the same for millions of years-pretty much as close to “perfect” as you can get in nature-and this highly optimized body plan is just. A fat sausage with a mouth at one end and chubby baby arms.
It’s been an incredibly exciting journey, watching so many of you take your fanworks from idea to finished collaboration, but here we are at the end! Thank you so much to the authors and artists who made the first Captain America Big Bang a success, and to everyone else who helped along the way.
We’re happy to announce that this year’s Bang includes 118 collaborations from 119 authors and 88 artists. They have been reblogged to our Tumblr and we invite you to check out theAo3 collection!
Additionally, we’ve aggregated everyone’s submissions in a user-friendly spreadsheet. You can sort it by a variety of criteria to find your favorite content creators and pairings and maybe find some new ones! The spreadsheet is availablehere.
Once again, thank you to everyone! It’s been our privilege to facilitate the Captain America Big Bang and we hope to see you all again next year!
“You can make it better. Better is always worth fighting for.”

Better is good. I used to have to tell my young staff this all the time in the white house. Better is good. That’s the history of progress in this country. Not perfect, better. The civil rights act didn’t end racism, but it made things better. Social security didn’t eliminate all poverty for seniors, but it made things better for millions of people. Do not let people tell you the fight’s not worth it because you won’t get everything that you want. The idea that, well, you know, there’s racism in America, so I’m not going to bother voting, no point, that makes no sense. You can make it better. Better is always worth fighting for. That’s how our founders expected this system of self-government to work. Through the testing of ideas and the application of reason and evidence and proof, we could sort through our differences, and nobody would get exactly what they wanted, but it would be possible to find a basis for common ground. And that common ground exists.
The enjoyment I get from removing the wax packaging from a lil cheese wheel is immediately aligned with entertainment zoo animals get when they have to solve a puzzle or get into a box to find a treat. I’m just an ape and the babybel cheese people are my enrichment team
I think about this post a lot. I talk about it a lot. It’s to the point where, at work when we don’t like someone, we go, “that person is NOT on my enrichment team” because apparently the biggest insult, we think, is that that person is not successfully zooing us.
1. WE TOOK BACK THE MOTHERFUCKING HOUSE. Look, in a perfect world we would have flipped the Senate too BUT this means that things are not just going to materialize for our dear friend Donald McTrump. This means oversight and investigations and a better grip from our legislative branch on a system wide check and balance. BOOM.
2. The fact that we got so close in states that Republicans have been gerrymandering the fuck out of for YEARS now is actually really impressive and it just means that we have to keep working but we’re whittling away at things. It can be done, is what I’m saying.
3. SO. MUCH. DIVERSITY. Women in record numbers! People of different faiths, younger people, native people, LGBT people, gang’s all here! We’re slowly dissolving the old white dudes in power thing.
4. So many AMAZING proposals are passing. Massachusetts upheld trans rights. Florida restored voting rights. Michigan legalized marijuana AND took the most comprehensive voting reform IN THE FUCKENING COUNTRY AND MADE IT LAW!
